EBA has published clarifications to a sixth set of issues that had been raised by participants of its Working Group on Application Programming Interfaces under the Payment Services Directive (PSD2).The clarifications respond to issues raised on authentication with electronic signatures, biometrics and authentication on mobile apps, preventing social engineering fraud, ability of payment initiation service providers to refuse a payer’s request to initiate a payment transaction, and complexity in the authentication process.
The Regulation sets out the rules on cross-border payments and transparency of currency conversion fees in the Union. The Regulation applies to cross-border payments denominated in euros or in the national currencies of Member States which have notified their decision to extend the application of this Regulation to their national currency in accordance with Article 13 of the Regulation. It does not apply to payments made by payment service providers for their own account or for the account of other payment service providers.
